FAQs Apprenticeship overview Application process After the apprenticeship How do I know which apprenticeship I should apply for?
You should think about your interests here. What do you like to do? If you like to meet and work towards deadlines or drive sales and be involved in promotional activities our Retail Parts Advisor Apprenticeship could be perfect for you. On the other hand, if you are drawn to resolving challenges or analysing and enhancing customer experiences, the Customer Experience Specialist Apprenticeship would be an excellent choice. For those who are interested in working on vehicle systems, from replacing parts to solving complex faults, a Light Vehicle Technician might be ideal for you.
What if I have relevant experience or qualifications prior to the apprenticeship?
Throughout our process, which includes the application and telephone interview, we will assess your experience and knowledge. Should we find a direct match with that of our programme, your learning will be tailored based on the results of the knowledge and skills assessments you have completed.
How long does the apprenticeship last for?
All of our apprenticeship programmes last 3 years, except for the Customer Experience Specialist which lasts around 18 months.
If I am successful, when will I start my apprenticeship?
Your training, held at the Mercedes‑Benz Training Academy in Milton Keynes, will start from September, however, your employment could begin as early as July.
Where does my training take place and how often?
Like all apprenticeships your training will be mixed with workplace activities and classroom learning. Your off-the-job training will take place at our Mercedes‑Benz Academy which is based in Milton Keynes. You will be invited to attend 1 week of block training, every 6-8 weeks (approximately). Throughout your time working in your dealership you will also be supported by one of our Training Coaches, who will have regular online meetings with you.
What are hours and days that I will be required to work?
All positions are full-time roles so you will be working around 35-40 hours a week. Your employer will be able to provide you further details on working hours and days.
What is the apprentice wage?
An apprenticeship is a job that provides training, and adheres to minimum wage standards. For additional details please visit National Minimum Wage and National Living Wage rates - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk).
What recognition has the programme received?
Mercedes‑Benz has been fortunate enough to win many awards over the years. These include the Top Employer Award at the AllAboutSchoolLeavers Awards as well as also winning the Best Training and Development, Best for Career Progression, Best Employer; Engineering and Best Advanced Apprenticeship awards. All of these awards were voted for by school leavers, trainees and apprentices. Further recognition was gained when the programme was awarded the National Apprenticeship Award for Large Employer of the Year, after also winning the East Midlands Large Employer of the Year category. In addition to this the Training and Development Centre was awarded the IMI Outstanding Achievers Award for the Approved Centre of the Year, specifically for the adult Technical Training and Apprentice Academy.

When I search for a vacancy I can't find any local to me?
It may be that within your local area, there are not currently any vacancies available. Monitor the website regularly to ensure you do not miss an opportunity, as we will be adding vacancies throughout the year. You could also try increasing the search radius, but please be mindful that you need to be able to travel to the selected retailer if you were to be successful.
Once I have submitted my application, what happens next?

What information will I need to make an application?
In addition to personal details, you will also need to be able to provide evidence of your GCSE grades or predicted grades. Please ensure you have this information to hand when you are ready to start your application. We will also require a few documents for our funding eligibility checks these being; a Birth certificate or Passport, a proof of address document issued within the last 3 months, and records of your UK address from the previous 3 years. Then you will need to answer some questions about yourself. Please feel free to make notes in advance of starting the application, about your skills, experience, interests and hobbies.
What happens if I run out of time when writing my application?
When you start the application you will be asked to create a password for your account. You can save your application and log back in at a later time to continue or make amendments prior to submitting your completed application.

Will I get a job at the end of my training?
Any sector will experience the movement of people in and out of jobs and this can be due to factors outside of our control, however, we achieve a very high retention rate of 70% of apprentices still within Mercedes‑Benz after 10 years of service.

Retail Parts Advisor Apprenticeship The role of a Retail Parts Advisor Apprentice is a diverse and exciting role in one of the biggest car brands on the planet. You'll be working both behind the scenes receiving deliveries and at the front desk serving Mercedes‑Benz customers. You'll learn skills in managing stock, merchandising, forecasting, and analysing purchasing habits, as well as developing your ability to retain customers and increase market saturation. Customer Experience Specialist Apprenticeship As a Customer Experience Specialist Apprentice, you will develop first-class customer service skills including understanding customer and business needs, critically evaluating customer service levels and implementing changes to improve the customer journey and use appropriate resources and technology to support the needs of the customer.
